About Buvuma Island Marathon Uganda
The Buvuma Island Marathon is an annual event organized by Tokens of Life Uganda. The run brings runners from Uganda and all over the world to the beautiful Buvuma Islands. It is a fun way to enjoy sports, see the Island's beauty, and learn about our rich culture. The money raised from the marathon goes directly to helping local Island families with health, education, and better lives.

Buvuma Island is a beautiful hidden place in Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. It sits inside Lake Victoria, which is the biggest freshwater lake in the world and the starting point of the famous River Nile. Buvuma District is a group of 52 different Islands. The islands are covered in big green forests full of birds and monkeys. There are secret caves to explore, sandy beaches, and beautiful views of the water and the local people are very welcoming and have a rich culture.

International Airfare: Your flights to and from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) are your responsibility.
Ugandan Entry Visa: Any visa fees required to enter Uganda must be secured independently before your travel.
Beverages & Personal Treats
Bar Tab: While your three daily meals are fully covered, any drinks purchased from the bar (including beer, wine, spirits, or sodas) are at your own expense.
Extra Snacks: Souvenirs, extra snacks outside of regular meals, and personal laundry services.

- 42KM, 21KM & 10KM Routes are all single loop Routes
- Coastal roads with beautiful lake views
- Rural villages and local communities
- Limited paved roads and some dirt roads
- Tip: Trail/road hybrid running shoes are recommended.
